I got my veneer put on and I picked a color a little lighter than my other teeth because I'd rather be lighter and bleach then darker well I could tell the dr knew the shading was off when he first put it on so he took the over head light off and thought it looked good in the lighting in there well he told me the color was "perfect" and there was no need to use a colored cement to make it lighter and said he was using translucent cement well I heard her telling the girl to write in my file shade color was light ..... and now when im in dim lighting its still darker than the other teeth. It looked like it was a good match except for my lip was numb and I couldnt see around the gum line and it looks really dark up there still. Can he take it off and replace it b/c I KNOW this isn't the color I asked for?

  1. Hi Mallory,

The short answer is "Yes" the veneer can be removed.

Your dentist will get you numb, and then cut, or section the veneer off.  A new impression will be made and sent back to the lab, and you will stay in a temporary for a couple of weeks, until it is time to try in the new veneer.  This sort of thing does happen from time to time, as none of us are perfect... A GOOD dentist will stand behind his or her work, and help you through this process.

Best of luck to you and your new smile.

  2. yes he can remove it. it will have to be cut off with a hand piece, but can removed. he will have to have the lab make new one's. if it just happend, i would call asap and have them remake them... and it should be at no charge to you. :)
