  1. yep it can! vinegar and old newspapers. we did that when i worked at a car lot.

  2. I've heard you can mix water with vinegar and wipe it off with a newspaper which will cut down the streaking.

I think that it is nice of you to do something kind for your mom.

  3. How much does your mom want her car to smell like pickles?

  4. It will destroy them if they are tinted or otherwise coated.

  5. dear spotz cheetah, absolutely the vinegar will clean the windows.  I would dilute it with water and use a spray bottle.  In addition to the vinegar, you can use your old newspaper to wipe it  instead of one of your mothers pretty cloth's. good luck

  6. Grandma C used to use vinegar and newspapers to clean the windows and it worked just fine. And most car windows are just plain glass inside and out (The windshield on cars are made of a safety glass which consists of two sheets of glass with a plastic film sandwiched between them to prevent the glass from shattering on impact) but the surfaces are still plain glass.

Therefore any effective glass cleaner - vinegar included - is suitable for cleaning car windows.

There is one exception, on a few high end mid - 1980's GM cars (Buick Riviera, Oldsmobile Toronado, and a couple of the Cadillacs)  which were equipped with a poly safety coating applied to the inner surface of the windshield (only the inner windshield ) which required the use of a Windex type cleaner and soft cotton cloths to prevent damage to the surface of the windshield. On these cars there is a warning label in the upper left hand corner of the windshield to alert the owner of the special cleaning requirements.

  7. Vinegar cleans glass very well, and does it without leaving streaks. In fact, I just cleaned all the windows and mirrors in my house with it. Just be warned that it will look cloudy and then will clear almost like magic as the vinegar evaporates.
