  1. Services at the cathedral are every day at 6, 7, 8 and 9 am. You can attend mass, but use proper attire (no shorts, flip-flops and no picture taking). Tourist visits are from 10 am to 6 pm every day.

  2. Yes, mass is open to the public.  You have to pay for a tour if you're not attending the service.

Consequently, there's no one at the gate to throw you out as long as you're being respectful.  I went to the cathedral to pray and found dozens of tourists sort of milling about aimlessly.

I made my way through the different stations in the church, participated in mass, and sort of made my way back through the other side.

Be respectful and dress modestly and don't take pictures.

The tour I took later on that day wasn't the greatest, but as long as you're doing it as part of a larger sight-seeing package - which most people use while visiting attractions in Peru - it's worth going on.

  3. Yes, just don't wear flip flops, shorts, or tanks.

  4. These two web pages can give you more ideas about visiting churches in Cuzco. On the first webpage there is a toll free 1-800 number which you can contact from the States (another one from UK) where you can ask for more info on every church in Cuzco. The cathedral is great but there are several others which are worth the trip. On the second web page there are churches opening times for either Mass or tourist visits (paying fee included here too)
