Can vitamin C lead to weight gain if it's taken in high dosages?

  1. No. If taken in high dosage, ascorbic acid, the most widely distributed form, can cause diarrhea & gastric distress. The only conceivable way this vitamin would cause weight gain would be if someone was very thin because of excess stress and vitamin C deficient. C aids in the production of antistress hormones.


  2. Vitamin C will act as a natural laxative.........  occasionally, very high doses (over 10g daily) can cause unpleasant side effects such as diarrhea, excess urination and skin rashes and if any of these occur you should just cut back on your dosage ........  i haven't heard of it causing you to gain weight though so my answer is no it won't lead to weight gain♥
