We have a B&Q tiler in at the moment - and he's using wall tile adhesive to stick floor tiles on the floor. Is this okay? Shouldn;t he be using a floor tile adhesive instead?

  1. The name of the product should be your biggest clue.  Wall tile mastic is for WALL TILE. Use THINSET for your floor.  Read the directions on the bag and you can't go wrong.  Make sure he's using the right grout too!! There's 2 kinds-Sanded and Non Sanded. a hardener can also be added to the grout and don't forget it needs to be sealed??

  2. yes it should be ok

  3. I assume your meaning ceramic tile.. And yes you can..If its a cement based  glue called a thinset , which is both white and grey. I don t recommend the mastic type glue that can be used in both areas, but it is made for it.Thinset is cheaper and much stronger than the mastic ..

  4. yes that is fine http://1st-floortile.blogspot.com/

  5. Yes its perfectly OK.  But if the floor is in an area where it going to get wet on a regular basis then make sure its waterproof adhesive.

  6. Despite the great answers that you have been given from others, the answer is no. Wall tile adhesive is a glue of sorts that is used to hold tiles on a vertical surface and not meant to take weight. For floor tile I only use "Thinset" mortar. It is a whole lot cheaper and will hold tiles down for ever and a day. Good Luck!

  7. anything can be used as a building material as long as it POSES NO risk to your health or safety.

  8. floor tiling adhesive is best because its more flexible than wall tile adhesive, and will provide more give under foot.
