Question:

Can water-based ink ruin a fresh (2 week old) tattoo?

I got a phoenix tattoo across my back but so far only the outline is done. I'd like to color it in with some kind of pens or something to test for color arrangement before getting permanent ink. Will using non-toxic water-based markers cause my tat ink to bleed in any way? The outline is already smooth to the touch and is not peeling.

  1. Erm, no, it will not have any effect on it at all, but I would say wait another 2 weeks or so and make sure the outline is fully healed up.

  2. no you will not hurt the tattoo inking in anyway, remember its embedded under your skin not at all on the surface. however even after two weeks the healing is not done, if its still scabby or raised at all don't do it just yet, as its not a healed wound yet- but if its all smooth already go for it- play with the colours till you get it right- its a fantastic way to help fix the design, i did a similar thing with the fairy on my leg, wore it a different colour every day till i settled on the sea-green she is now!
