i'm a vegan. i found a recipe for cupcakes and i badly want to make it. unfortunately the recipe requires 1/2 cup Godiva Liquor for the frosting..

I don't consume any kind of liquor as it's against the religion and I've no idea what is that.

Somebody please help me, I'll be REALLY thankful.

p/s: make sure the substitute really works: i don't want the recipe to spoil.

  1. Any liquid substitution should work, without the recipe in front of me it's hard to say if it will really work.

I would consider using chocolate rice or soy milk since the Godiva liquor is chocolate. Maybe richen it with a little melted vegan chocolate or cocoa powder.

  2. well one i am guessing that since it is a frosting you wont be cooking it which would burn off the alcohol. Godiva depending on which one you get is a chocolate liquor so i would find some type of chocolate flavoring as a substitute. And as far as your question goes, in the way it seems that you are making your frosting it sounds okay.

  3. This is my favorite chocolate icing.  The longer you beat it on high the creamier it gets.

    9 Tablespoons butter (room temperature)

    1/2 cup cocoa

    4 cups powdered sugar

    8-9 Tablespoons milk

    1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla

mix the powdered sugar and cocoa together in the mixing bowl and try to get all the lumps out - put the rest of the ingredients in then mix everything together

stop the mixer and scrape the sides and bottom of the bowl

mix on high until the icing is thick and creamy

    Everyone loves it!
