Question:

Can we agree the Tigers need a big left handed bat?

If so, than why did they let Adam Dunn pass through waivers? He had to pass because its past the trading deadline and thats how they get traded. Did the tigers put in a coin or chip or whatever its called? Dunn is a proven power who can help... while right now our big lefty is Granderson or Joyce... Granderson is a leadoff guy while Joyce is too young to say he can do this for years. He might pull a Hessman or Thomas or something. (You know, start great and then just slowly fade away)

So am I missing something or did the Tigers let Dunn slip?

  1. He may have cost too much or he strikes out too much. My guess is that they are waiting to get Barry Bonds, a big lefty bat with a great OBP

  2. any tiger would need a big left handed bat! lolz! http://www.free4allcity.com/wallpaper/gr...

  3. as einstein pointed out, some gm's don't like the idea of putting a guy who is going to strike out 200 times in a season before his career is over and who gets half of his total hits on home runs in the middle of their order...while it would seem to be a good fit on the surface, dombrowski may be looking for more than just home run and rbi production at this point since the tigers do have other guys who can drive in runs and you need to get guys on base to give the other guys that chance, and dunn just isn't that kind of player

  4. Well we do have Granderson now, but we need a great left handed bat in the #5 spot. I am tired of their lineup settings, it should be like this 1-9 in this order. Granderson, Guillen, Magglio, Cabrera, Thames, Polanco, Inge, Renteria, and Joyce.

They are saving their money for the offseason, but they wont get any pitching, they will just trade great young players like Maybin for Dontrelle Willis. Next it will be Rick Porcello or Michael Holliman to be traded for a Dontrelle type player. They need Pitching!!

    Hope this helps.

  5. they can get jim thome i guess im pretty sure its his last year in chicago and i guess he wont retire so yea they can pick him up

  6. Dunn is not a player for all teams. Some front offices dont like him for their club.He really isnt productive enough with his .225 average.I have to agree.A guy that Ks almost 200 times a year can really disrupt an offense. The Tigers need pitching more than a bat.Granderson wont be a leadoff guy in a couple years. He has huge power potential.

  7. I like ur name, dallas drake was my favorite red wing!

  8. Wow. No good answers yet, except for EINSTEIN.

Anyways, I would completely agree with you. If we had acquired Dunn, and put him in left field, we should have been set.

Though Dunn is a monster power hitter though, he strikes out a lot, and Leyland is not a fan of that. He likes guys who hit the ball to all fields and put it in play much of the time.

That being said, Dunn's OBP is still pretty good. He draws many many walks, which is nice.

I agree, I think we should have maybe gone after Dunn. But hey, our lineup is pretty formidable as it is, and hopefully we can make a run for the top of the AL Central.

    Great question. Star for you.

  9. Detriot should have some right handed batter because it is batting racist
