..that the proverbial glass ceiling has been broken either way? We will either have our first black president or our first female vice president! I am proud of our country's progress (yes I know I'm cheesy and patriotic).

  1. You are right! But we still need change! Obama and BIden 08!!

  2. Liberals feel threatened by a woman.

  3. McCain is using Palin like a dirty dish towel....

VP is not the glass ceiling!!!!!!

  4. I'm with you.  I'm very happy about it.

Also, I'm a liberal that is not running scared (as mentioned above).  This is the closest we've been in my life to a Presidential Election with a viable 3rd party.  McCain's maverick label comes from frequent breaks away from the Republican line when advancing issues in the Senate.  Unfortunately, his voting record is strongly aligned with the Republican Party.

McCain's decision to chose a woman is a great example of his independent thinking.  No other Republican has ever done it.

  5. First black Presidential candidate, check.  First female vice president, NOPE!  That was Ferraro who is a bit of a nut but, still she was first.

Ah, I see your point but, still Ferraro stood in that position first--even though she is crazy as a loon.

  6. Being proud of the USA is a good thing, and so is patriotism. Michelle Obama has only said that she is proud of the USA twice, once when Obama declared he was running, and 3 days ago at the DNC.

  7. Yes, we can and the Obama/ Biden campaign has already acknowledged this moment thusly:

"We send our congratulations to Governor Sarah Palin and her family on her designation as the Republican nominee for vice president. It is yet another encouraging sign that old barriers are falling in our politics," the statement said.

"While we obviously have differences over how best to lead this country forward Governor Palin is an admirable person and will add a compelling new voice to this campaign,"

    VOTE OBAMA / BIDEN '08!!

  8. I think what would be better, is realizing that race, age, and gender shouldn't matter, ones policies should.

This country puts far to much bearing and weight on the color of a mans skin, or the bits of flesh on a chest, it's a frightening thing to think genetics will play the biggest role in this upcomming election.

    I weep for this country.

  9. Let's hope it's the first female vice president. Can't stand the thought of having a socialist in office.

  10. It's all illusion anyway....

  11. Palin will be president in 2012.

  12. I, too, am proud of the breakthroughs that our minorities have made in just the few decades. It's about time we had a level playing field for ALL Americans.

  13. Yes, you're right. Thanks for injecting a degree of intelligent thought in this otherwise juvenile forum.

  14. Well stated and thanks for a wonderful reminder!

  15. I agree!

  16. liberals are threatened by women? uhh not unless they big scuzzy gun toting conservative ogres. check your facts son.

  17. Don't care. All I know is that Palin is gorgeous and if she lost I would have a better chance at getting her.

I'm switching my vote over to what's his name?  O'bamawitz?

  18. Yes, this will ruin arguments by Dems after this year.

  19. haha...as much as i DO NOT want McCain to be president (i think it'll be horrifying)

i did just think about how refreshing it'll be that EITHER WAY... it's not two old white dudes..

  20. yes very happy

    the liberals are running scare

    hugs!

  21. I sure hope it's the female vp!

  22. No.  why should we care.  Let's get the best person we can.

  23. i will not be proud of a marxist president just because he is black.

  26. An absolute salute to America's middle class. People who work for a living have a hero. Governor Palin is a wonder.

  27. woohoo!!!!!! yup and john mccain even made an ad about obama being the first nominee for black president!

  28. Looks like a good year for the third parties raising money from R$D necks.

Actually I like Both the VP candidates better than the  Presidential picks.

A Senator that goes home every nite on a train rather than stay in DC? sounds like Truman a little  (If you want a friend in Washington.... get a DOG)

A women that has a gun and knows how to use it and can gut the fish she catches.  Cheney wasn't too good with a gun.

Now this would be the ticket that Obama and Mcshame would be afraid of.

  29. women prefer black dudes over pow's.

  30. But what's your question? Because if you are jsut asking if we can all stop, you'll have to ask everyone on Earth...
