Can we be bare bodied in our garden?

Question

Will it be appropriate for guys to wear their shorts and a bare body and go to the garden to tend the leaves?

Or must we be appropriately dressed?

What is wrong wearing only shorts (I mean proper short pants, not boxers) and go to the garden and mind it? Why can't we be bared bodied? (Of course, we do wear our boxers beneath).

Assuming you're in the UK (and you should be, since I'm set to UK only questions), I don't see the problem here...?

As a previous poster mentioned, it's not illegal, and I don't see why it's inappropriate for children either. Where's the nudity if it's a male wearing shorts? It's no different going to a swimming pool...

So in answer to your question, yes we can. And until I saw some of the other replies, I didn't think it was too much of a problem anywhere else either. Where I live (Lancashire), it's a fairly common sight on a hot summer's day to see guys walking around the streets in nothing more than shorts and some suitable footwear.

It's only illegal if you are naked and someone can view you in public or a house.  If you are in your house and the other person is in their house it is not deemed to be public and not illegal.  Goind bare chested is certainly not illegal.

Lets face it, if it was most of the road diggers would have been nicked years ago!

Well yes, guys get away with anything short of murder.. all the ladies will  be watching you guys out of their windows.. to see some young men with bare upper bodies working in the garden.. it probably will make their day.. you can do that.. whereas us poor females we would be arrested by the police if we did something of the kind even in our own garden.. a female has to wear at least a bikini top and shorts.. otherwise she can be arrested for indecent exposure.. but you men get away with showing off your chests.. as long as you do wear shorts... of course...  LOL x*x

Whatever you like -- its not illegal, however it is kind of inappropriate if kids can see you.

If your garden is closed off by a fence or high hedges (as suggested by another of your fellow nudist buddies), then I don't see anything wrong with it. Its your property, so have fun throwing dirt around your garden in the semi-nude!!

I suspect it may be according to the social expectations of ones neighbourhood. Certainly there is no law with against it to my knowledge, at least in the UK and other parts of the Western world.

For those of us who are sufficiently young and of a build that may be admired by local matrons and passersby, I can't understand why anyone would complain.

Equally, there may be personal reasons for not being bare above the waist. Probably more important is the degree of comfort the person has with regard to his own body that matters.

I've done gardening naked. You have to keep the hedges high.
