My husband's job provided him with a gas card to fuel up when using our car for work trips BUT these trips for work has wracked up over 27000 miles on our car in just 6 months! Can we get something back for this since our car is now at a lower value because of milage? Im talking about reimbursement through taxes at the end of the year. Any tips would be great. Thanks!

  1. You should ask the employer for much more.

AAA estimates it cost over 50/c per mile to operate a new mid priced sedan.

If you don't get more from the employer, you can at least get an IRS tax deduction.

    Summary

You will have to keep track of daily work miles, total up the yearly miles, multiply by that year's IRS rate, and subtract the gas reimbursement.

The difference is a tax deduction that can be subtracted from your income.

  2. yeah just say it was business duh
