  1. Yes, but it takes more energy to separate hydrogen molecules from water than the energy you get to run your car. They should have never killed the electric car D: ( I'm no talking about hybrids, they suck compared to electric cars)

Watch 'Who Killed the Electric Car?'

  2. We can and do, Honda has the FCX which is more in the testing phase but it is a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle, BMW has the Hydrogen 7 series vehicle which will use either Hydrogen or Gas. Other companies are developing hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and there is a company in california (where all the hydrogen fuel pumps are in this country) to produce hydrogen power fleet vehicles and a hydrogen powered Cobra.

  3. a regular car can run on pure hydrogen! its hard on the engine ( i think), but they did it on mythbusters

but pure hydrogen is expensive and rare

and its very hard to extract it from water

  4. Yes, and several large manufacturers are testing designs now.

The problem is not burning it - but storing the fuel. It needs to be kept at cryogenic temperatures to stay liquid otherwise the pressure would be too great. Venting it is dangerous, so they are having problems with fuel tanks and filling systems.

There are other ways of extracting hydrogen from water, but most involve energy input or waste products to dispose of.

The question should be - "Can we build a car that uses Hydrogen from renewable sources?"

In the Hioghlands of Scotland, they are using wind turbines to electrolyise water - to produce Hydrogen, which is then fed to pipes. Theoretically you could "fill up" from a network supplied by offshore wind turbines - supplying hydrogen gas. Cheap - Reliable, safe (compared to nuclear or oil tankers) - and easily stored in gassometers already in existance.

  5. yes, but it it way to expensive. Hydrogen cost 3 times as much as natural gas and twice that of gasoline.  The engines or fuel cells are 3 times as expensive as a car.  The Honda Fuel cell car would cost over $100,000, if you could buy it, which you can't.

  6. They already have.Just google it.

Allegedly one of the main problems in making a hydrogen fueled vehicle is storing hydrogen safely in the vehicle for long periods of time and at this time, allegedly, there is no way or at least financially acceptable way.

    Hydrogen is very flammable.

  7. yes, it has been done many times
