  1. It would probably be possible to build a bridge across the Bering Strait to connect Russia and Alaska, but I don't know if the severe weather would allow it.  It would also be possible to build a bridge between southern Spain and north Africa.  A project so large would most likely be to expensive to accomplish for any nation.  Flying would still be faster and cheaper.

  2. Bridges connecting continents? What about all caribou in Alaska we need to be saving?

    OBAMA 0'8!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Yeah but it will cost a lot of money, then airlines will lose money and then they will sue the earth.

  4. Most forgot Antarctica.  It's pretty far from Australia and South America, and pretty rough seas, too.

You can see here that the Drake Passage is the narrowest point, and that there is a handy island in the passage too.  My guess is that we have the technology to pull this off, but not the $.

  5. Who would maintain the bridge?  It would be a long drive... there would have to be lots of places to stop... making it much more complicated.

Its really not efficient to drive that far anyway.

  6. sure

Asia, Africa, and Europe are already connected

North and South America are already connected.

There is already a bridge connecting Europe to North America in Iceland.

So you only need to build some bridges connecting up Indonesia's islands to Papua New Guinea to Australia.
