Can we delete the contents of a partially written CD?

While recording a CD, by mistake it as a wrong music that got in and not the one I wanted. It runs only for one min. Can I delete the contents and make the CD to record fresh contents.

If it is a CD-RW, you can. If it is a CD-R, you can't.

If it is a CD-RW(Re-Writable), you can. If it is a CD-R(Recordable), you can't.
