I am planning to start at 4 am for DC.

  1. yes you can.... if you figure 75 mph that would take you 10 hrs..... But that is non-stop and no delays!!

  2. yes

  3. Have you gone mad...

  4. yes and here is why...

Figure you get 400 miles to a tank, thats one 45 minute stop to gas up, streatch the legs and eat.

at 75 miles an hour that is going to take you 5 hours and 20 minutes for the first tank.  If you leave at 4 am this gases you up just before Pittsburg around 10:30 with about 350 miles left.  If you get back on the road around 11:15 you'll arrive in DC about 4:00.  I would build in traffic delays around Cleveland AM rush hour and the Beltway.  It'll probably take 12 hours total.

Definately possible with a trusty cup of coffee.

    Drive safely

  5. You CAN do it.  But it will be very tiring.  We drove from Pittsburgh to Miami in a straight 20 hour drive.  We stopped twice for gas so it is definitely possible.

  6. I drove from Central Florida to Tulsa Oklahoma in two days.  Each day was around 700 miles all freeway.  I don't know what kind of gas tank you have, but I had to stop 3 times each day to fill my 15 gal.

Starting at 6:00 am on the first day, we ate breakfast, got gas, ate a late lunch dinner, and finished driving around 11:00 at night. ***I was the only one driving.***

My best advice, take rest's.  Don't push yourself, you can drive it in one day, but it will become tiring and dangerous if you don't stop for rest/food/gas.

P.S.  Stock up on energy drinks, it helped me inbetween the fuel stations.

  7. Maybe.

  8. I have done that trip may times. (Green Bay to Syracuse) It just depends on how much gas your car holds. I have done nearly 1,000 miles in a day before. It takes a tough butt and a lot of determination, but there is no reason at all that it can't be done.

  9. here in puerto rico with 90% curve roads i have drive for over 3 years about 240miles daily

1.30 hr at the mourning 1.30hr at the afternoon

you can drive that straight miles in 7 -8 hr more or less

  10. Sure.  I've done that exact drive.  You should get there around 7:00 or 8:00pm.

Calculate your driving time at an assumed rate of 50mph.  You might be going a lot faster, but factor in potty stops, snack stops and potential traffic hassles and 50mph is about right.

  11. No problemo.

At 70 mph..........under 11 hours. Even if you stopped 4 times at a half hour each.......13 hours.

  12. Yes, it's possible.  I have driven from Detroit to Montgomery, Alabama (835 miles one way) in one day.

    Here are some tips:

    1.  It's definitely a good idea to start early, but you don't want to start too early.  It depends on how much sleep you get the night before.  If you go to bed at 9:00 and get to sleep quickly you should be OK, but if you go to bed late or have trouble sleeping you shouldn't force yourself to get up that early.  Also, you should give yourself at least 2 hours between the bar closing time and your start time.  That way you're 99% sure all the drunks are off the road.

    2.  It's going to be tough if you only take one break.  The best system I have found when driving by myself is to stop and take a break every 2 hours, even if I don't need to get gas or use the bathroom.  I'll just get out, stretch, walk around for a few minutes, then get back in and drive.

    3.  It's not a good idea to let your tank get almost all the way down to empty before you fill up again because any junk in your tank sits at the bottom and will end up going through (or getting caught in) the fuel pump and/or fuel filter if you drive until you're riding on fumes.  Fill up before you get to 1/4 tank.

    4.  You said "Can WE drive 750 miles in one day" -- does that mean someone is going with you?  If so, you'll DEFINITELY want to stop at least every 2 hours and switch drivers every time you stop, or every other time you stop.

  13. Average 65 miles per hour for 12 hours you can do it but will be very tired and a danger to others on the road.  The longest stretch anyone should drive is about 6 hours with a two hour break.

  14. You can do it. The longest I've driven in one day was 16 hours. When I stopped for gas, I grabbed some food. 750 miles shouldn't be too difficult with more than one driver. If it's all highway driving, it shouldn't take you longer than 13 hours and that's being very conservative. Just try and limit your stop to gas/food.

  15. i drive from NC to NJ every few weeks. It is 100 miles less than your drive. I stop once for fill up of gas, empty the bladder and a coffee. It takes me about 9 hours if there are no accidents, etc. I listen to xm radio or c.d's to keep me going. Do not speed, tailgate or talk on the cell phone-you will get to your destination with no problems.

  16. oh yea ...easy.. your looking at about 12.5 hours of drive time...watch your speed in Ohio.....no more than 5 mph over the posted speed limit....stop more if you need to don't drive overly tired...have a safe trip
