Question:

Can we easily move our washer and dryer 15 foot to the left our our kitchen sink and drain?

The new location for our washer and dryer is literally 15 feet to the left our kitchen sink. Additionally, they will be located on an outside wall so the vent for our dryer shouldn't be an issue(I hope). Is this an extremely difficult project? My electrician friend is doing the 220 for me, but isn't into the plumbing stuff. We have a crawl space, but I'm trying to decide if this is going to be a huge project. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  1. Depends on how far the plumbing lines need to be moved. Water lines should not be too hard but the drain may cause problems since you need to vent it.

  2. In addition to the electrical, you need hot and cold water and waste. Given the crawl space, it should be easy to extend the hot and cold to the new location under the house, and up through the floor / wall. You may need to cut a small hole in the drywall behind where the appliances go and then patch it. The challenge is the waste. You need to make sure that there is a waste line under the house that you can tap into, which allows you to run from the new location to there with a drop of 1/4 in per foot.
