For eg, my opponent has made:

B-A-K-E-R

Then, In my move, can I add an 'S' to it?

B-A-K-E-R-S

eg2: G-O

I make G-O-E-S

eg3: F-I-G-H-T

I make F-I-G-H-T-I-N-G

Are all these three egs allowed?

  1. yes they are

  2. Why not, it can earn you more points

  3. as long as the new letters you add also make an acceptable word with every letter it touches. Maybe the 's' in BAKERS touches letters already on the board going vertically. you need to make sure that vertical interaction also forms a word since 's' connects with it.

  4. I dunno... it'd seem kinda cheap if one person scores something like BENZOXYCAMPHOR and the next person puts an "S" on the end of it and gets all those points as well.

    I say no.

  5. Absolutely. They are still considered actual, existing words.

  6. yes, they are allowed. although, if you add an "s" to bakers, and bakers is horizontally, you might as well form a vertical word starting r ending with "s" right next to it, so you get points from the word "bakers" AND the other word you formed.

  7. Absolutely.  COMPETITIVE PLAYERS CALLS THESE MOVES "HOOKS' for a single letter, and "Extensions" for multiple letters.

But remember, the premiums are only scored when the letter is originally played, so if the B in baker is on a triple letter score, its score 9 points when the original word is player but on;y 3 when the S is added to it,  But if the S in Bakers is on a double word score, BOTH words score that bonus.
