Can we geneticaly alter Electric ells to make power?

Can we bio-engineer electric ells in a farm situation to provide us with power and sustain the eels as well?

Yes, but the animal rights nuts will poison them to protect them from you.

But they will power an electric chair for 20 ms.  A great use of nature...

While I think working with electric eels would be wildly inefficient, I think microbial fuel cells are final outcome of the line of thought that you're on.  They use microorganisms to convert chemical to electrical energy.
