Question:

Can we grow Almond and Hazel trees in Malaysia soil?

Suddenly I have this idea of growing these trees produce good grade nuts-Almond, hazel, pistachios, pecan, peanuts, walnut, cashew.... brazils nut tree must be grown in brazil? this is a new to me..can anyone help. Since we import food including nuts, how abt we grow our,..cheaper and save a lot and boost for our economy and our local ppl has started took part in growing grapes and more fruits.

has anyone tried it before? would it take long to grow these tress? how many years? welcome ideas and comments..thnks a lot

  1.  cashew trees are not found in KL or Selangor. However, i read online that there's plenty of cashew trees left to grow wild along the road sides of trengganu and kelantan (pokok terbiar). There's even a cashew esporter in penang (google this). In malaysia, the leaf from the cashew tree is used in ulam (malay salad). I dont know why the tree isnt readily available cause the cashew apple is apprantly sweet and nice to eat... like eating regular apple. Actually, cashew apple look more like jambu air (bell apple).


    I'm also interested to grow cashew trees in KL. I'm just looking for a place to get the seeds.
