  1. Like another poster pointed out, Ramadan lasts a month, so you can't very well trade Labor Day for Ramadan, unless by "Ramadan" you meant the last day of the Ramadan, which is a holiday on the Islamic calendar.

Anyway, as long as the non-Muslims get that day off as well... who cares?

  2. You can, but I won't participate. Allowing their employees to practice religion as they choose, is part of what makes this country great.

  3. It is my opinion that there are many, many reasons to boycott Tyson even without this topic.

In the spirit of respecting all traditions -- boycott Tyson for the many, many other reasons you can boycott them for.

  4. I've been boycotting them for a long time because of their treatment of chicken farmers and monopolization of the chicken industry.

  5. Hmmmm, I don't agree with giving up Labor Day; however, I fully support the recognition of Ramadan as a holiday.  I am not Muslim and have served in the military for 19 years having tours in the Middle East during both wars.

We are a diverse nation made up of many races and religions.  Our issues are not with Muslims but rather extremists which come from all religions.

  6. Sory but I for one an tired of these people comming here, and demanding we all change our ways to accomidate them, this is American  One nation under god, those 700 muslims that work at tyson should go home on their lunch break and do their thing, why should we as a nation have to build a prayer room for them, they all ready have mosques all over the country, I am sorry but If I offend them, to bad America, love it or leave it!!!!!

  7. YES

  8. I'm a Purdue guy myself, anyway...

  9. The employees voted for it.....a large percentage of them are Somalian muslims......go figure.....the others are just happy to have a paid holiday no matter what it's called I guess.

  10. sure, why not.  I am shock they would do that.  I would think Tyson would discourage the celebration of Ramadan, since it involves fasting.

Isn't it a month long celebration???  I would rather my company give me a month off, than one day.

  11. Absolutely! I already boycott them a while back due to their practice of hiring illegal aliens.

  12. So? It's their choice as a company. Ask any of their employees which they would rather have, Ramadan off, or NO days off at all and see what the answers are...

I'm going to buy twice as much Tyson chicken now as well, just in spite of you all. I recommend anyone who agrees with freedom of religion and freedom of a company to do what they want, do the same, BUY MORE TYSON!

  13. Sure, why not.  I'm all for it.  Consider it done.

  14. Yes thats bs there should be a law aginst that

  15. What a wonderful way to show support for freedom of religion. It is about time to see a company embrace holidays that reflect the views of their workers instead of simply being Christian-bots.

Muslims get a prayer room. Christians get Christmas off. Seems fair to me.

  16. I think it's getting out of hand and in that case we should give everybody one, in this way we will have half the year off like France  I guess they didn't want to get in trouble like McDonald's did when they tried to enforce their guidelines which they have had for over 40 years, yea let's change everything.  The Chinese and Mexicans have some neat festive days off.  While living in Texas I went and go off a bunch of their festive days.  The more we have the more paid time off we will have and to heck with rules and regulations.

before long we wil not have to go to work and people working can do what they want and there will be no quality control and then we cn be like all the other countries in the world, sorta a "new world order".

ON second thought lt's see what the countries they come form would allow on our days and if they won't shoot us then I guess it would be ok, but if they wouldn't allow it then we should not, if you get my drift, then they might go home and make their country change the way they treat people and then it would be better for all.

  17. How do you get a "day off" for Ramandan?  Ramadan last for an entire month.

The most prominent event of this month is the fasting (sawm) practiced by most observant Muslims. Every day during the month of Ramadan, Muslims around the world get up before dawn to eat the Suhoor meal (the pre dawn meal) and perform their fajr prayer. They break their fast when the fourth prayer of the day, Maghrib (sunset), is due.

Your question doesn't really make any sense.

    Edit:

However, if you meant the Islamic holiday of Eid ul-Fitr (Arabic: عيد الفطر) marks the end of the fasting period of Ramadan and the first day of the following month, after another new moon has been sighted. The Eid falls after 29 or 30 days of fasting, as per the lunar sighting. Eid ul-Fitr means the Festival of Breaking the Fast, a special celebration is made.

Why not?  Some employers allow for observance of Jewish holidays, so why not Islamic ones? Although the US is primarily a Christian nation where major Christian holidays are observed especially Christmas, it has since devolved into less of a religious observance but rather a commercialized one.

  18. Let's do it! that's not American of them.
