As with any intersecting set, there are commonalities which we can perceive and focus on, rather then concentrating on the ones which seem to be espousing opposite views.

Of course, there will always be conflicting and opposing views.  But, there is commonality there also.  We can choose to focus on those complementary aspects.

yes, but we will get conflicting results. Your question didn't give much detail but if you mean for example a person hopes to be thin but likes feeling heavy & strong they have a conflicting hope & then usually wonder why they don't lose weight.
