Can we help Asiatic Lions?

Gujrat government (A state in India) thinks that Asiatic lion should not be relocated to any new destination, as they don’t want to share economy generated by Gir national park. What do you think?

1. Are the political wills higher than conservation issues?

2. What will happen to the enclosed population of Asiatic lion in gir national park?

3. How can we help Asiatic lion?

  1. 1. politicians, bar none, are vermin. how do you know when a politician is lying? it's lips are moving.

    2. the asiatic lion population will, if it hasn't already,  fall foul of inbreeding with all it's inherent problems.

    3. how can we help these lions? shoot poachers on sight & burn out their homes.


  2. I wasn't aware that the Gujarat government was acting like that. Obviously it is in everyone's interests to have as great a distribution of Asiatic lions as possible, not least to keep the genetic mix healthy. Obviously the lions are Sasan Gir's big attraction, but the first duty of any national park is to put animals and the ecology first.

    India has a very fine tradition when it comes to national parks and species protection. I would hope their past wisdom can be used to help the Asiatic lion thrive.
