Can we hold H1visa ?

Now my husband in L1 visa and he is working for an Indian company .In 2008 his H1 visa has got approved.Due some of our personal problem we can not leave the Indian company at least for 6 months but the H1 is in effect from 1st Oct,2008.So if he will join any USA company after 6 month is that OK or his H1 will cancel .We don't have any plan to India recently.

If he's in the US on the L1, he'd have to apply to change status through USCIS to H1b before he could work for the new employer. Otherwise, he could leave and apply for a visa outside the US or back home in India. Either way, you should expect questions as to why he waited so long to act and to prove that the job sponsorship is still open.
