  1. You (and the rest of us) have inherited ancestors' traits from millions of year ago! For example, we take in oxygen, give off carbon dioxide, use ATP for energy in our cells, and are carbon based and use water as a carrier medium inside our bodies.

Later ancestors had 4 fins or limbs, still later were warm blooded and had fir, and so on.

Since all life we know of descended from common or perhaps a single very primitive form, we are all related and share a great number of traits, as reflected in our DNA.

You share about half your DNA with a banana! You are about 3% away from a Chimp or a Bonobo.

If you have photos of ancestors back a couple or more generations, you may see that some look a lot like you.

    So, yes!

If you want a fun book on this subject, check out "The Ancestor's Tale" by Dawkins. It is available at the library.

And when it comes to people, everyone alive today descended from a small group of survivors that lived about 250,000 to 300,000 years back...probably no more than 10,000 persons, perhaps as few as 1,000.

Amazing how we have so much trouble getting along, being so closely related and all...

    Have a nice day, cousin.

  2. sure, but the traits wouldn't be that noticable

  3. You share lots of traits with ancestors far older than that.  Anatomically modern human beings have been around for about 50,000 years.

  4. Surely. I believe we could. We have carbon dating and DNA tracing as far back as we want.

  5. very much so this is quite an interesting topic check out this article it only just came out

amazing that one mutation can have such a profound effect

  6. don't be disappointed because we are our ancestors, only in a different time.  all human traits and behaviors are still the same as it was when we first roam earth.  we still hate, love, kill and work to survive the daily rat race.

  7. I realized I had a gesture of nodding my head after talking

(I believe it comes from my father's side because I remember him doing it.) when speaking with some Japanese.  I seem to nod at the right moments because they nod back.  My father is European descent. Man, how many thousands of years would that be?

  8. yes, sure, why not?
