why continue to make excuses and point fingers. The Chinese are great. Not that we aren't but it just wasn't our time. We aren't the best in everything after all. Besides we have fabulous athletes in other sports. basketball, football, baseball, swimming, The reception by the Chinese of american basketball players was awesome! You didn't hear them complaining when the Chinese bsketball team lost! The media is painting a picture of us as being sore losers. and for those who cannot or will not think for themselves, that is exactly what some are becoming.

  1. They do get their due - but for the Beijing Olympic committee to be so strict on just about everything, only to allow girls that are obviously under age is a bit of a joke...

I disagree with your media standpoint, all we're doing is pointing out the obvious.. China is a corrupt nation for the most part, altering a passport wouldn't be all that difficult for them especially when the government controls it

As for me, I believe that if we are going to send our nations best on any event, then there should be no age restrictions...

But like the guy above said - when track & field events come up - we will dominate...

(_$_) Money coming out of his *** ,they should make the gmynastics compete by weight that way the chinese could compete agaist each other

  3. Americans like to make excuses when they lose. In the worst case scenarios (like getting totally smashed in big events) they start crying "cheat" and other stuff to make the other side look bad. This is typical really, oh and they are also very racist against asians in general. It's like double the mud in the face.

  4. Yes, exactly, if a bunch of little 10 year old's beat 15 year old's in gymnastics, isn't that what the olympics is about? Achieving an ultimate goal?

  5. Here we go again. You guys are missing the point. Yes, the Chinese are good. Nobody is saying they are bad at gymnastics. But there are rules. If the rule says you have to be 16 to compete and you are 12 or 14, that is cheating. Should people just keep quiet about the cheating because they don't want to be called sore losers? It doesn't matter if it is the Chinese or other countries. The rule applies to the gymnasts. People are missing the point.

  6. Well, if there was some 14 year old basketball prodigy that could shoot 100% from the three point line and we put him on the team saying he was 16 I'm sure other countries would have something to say about it.  You can't really compare basketball to gymnastics.

Besides, China is ahead in the medal count now but once track and field start the US is going to rake in gold medals and will again prove its athletic superiority.

  7. Honestly, some of the girls on their team don't look anywhere close to 16. It's hard to tell just by looking, though (especially with the Asians) and if people were concerned about it, this issue should have been investigated *before* competition. The age of the Chinese didn't cause the American team to under-perform, and there is no question that the Chinese team as a whole outperformed the Americans.

You know there have actually been people complaining that Yang Wei "wasn't that great" and didn't deserve gold? I think they aren't watching the same Games I am.

  8. Frankly my dear, I don't give a d**n. I stopped watching them years after they started allowing professional athletes to compete. The Olympics to me has just become another big business event. It's all  about the money. The money each country rewards it's medal winning athletes with, so with China having the deepest pockets and afford to give them more than any other country. These gymnasts have probably received the best training money can buy over the last few years and therefore failure to win medals is not an option.  Good Luck and enjoy watching the rest of the Olympics. I for one won't bother doing so, especially since Canada has not even won one medal so far.

  9. Well, glad to see this when i'm just about to believe that all Americans are sore losers. Good on you.
