  1. One more time-"Global Warming" is not going to harm you or yours. It is a lame attempt to get attention for those who want a bigger or world government. The Earth is getting slightly warmer. It's been warming and cooling since the beginning of time.

Other planets are getting proportionately warmer too. What do you think the cause is?

  2. We can reduce the amount of carbon we get out of the ground, and instead use energy that we get from the sun, or growing crops (a kind of solar energy) or from wind (another kind of solar energy), hydroelectric power, geothermal, tidal action generators, nuclear power: the list goes on and on.

There are plug-in cars out there right now that are powered by electricity alone.  That electricity can be made from sources other than fossil fuel.  We can generate hydrogen to burn from sunlight and salt water.

Solar panels are getting cheaper all the time.  What if everyone had a solar roof? You can make that darn meter spin in the opposite direction, and make the electric company start paying you for a change.

Even if you believe there is no man-made global warming, (despite the evidence and the consensus of thousands of scientists worldwide), it is still in our national interest to stop our dependancy on fossil fuel.

Note that AJ's wikipedia citation supports the existence of global warming, and the supression of the facts by this government, and does not support his own claims.

Notice I did not say it is in the interest of the big oil companies, and their buddies Bush and Cheney, who would hate everyone producing their own energy from the sun.  But it would keep us out of wars like Iraq, and limit the ability of oil states (and the oil companies) to blackmail the people of the US.  Neither republicans nor democrats want to be subject to blackmail or forced into competition with emerging companies like China for ever-scarcer reserves of fuel.

First step is to just reduce our usage.  Through conservation or alternate sources.  Change your tungsten lightbulbs out for CFL.  That step will make the next one easier.  And so we get down the road toward freedom from fossil fuel.

A long journey starts with a single step.  Just start.

  3. We can't totally stop it in any practical way.  But....

What we can do is to reduce it enough so that we can deal with the effects.

What we need is a very intelligent strategy which includes measures to reduce global warming and measures to cope with the remaining effects.

How best to do that is a worthy topic of debate .  The reality of mostly man made global warming isn't.

  4. I doubt we can do anything to stop it, but we may be able to slow down its effects.

It's too late to stop it all together.

  5. we could but it would be really hard. we'd have to stop almost  all pollution, and people wouldn't make it to work because of their cars and etc.

  6. The earth has been warming for as long as we know, think about the ice age.  Sure we contribute to it, but either way its getting warmer.  Since we are advancing so rapidly in technology maybe in the near future they'll invent something to slow the warming.  However, I think that people should be more concerned with cleaning the eath.  Such as not polluting, reducing garbage and so on.  There things should aid in the slowing of global warming but also make everyone healthier.  I have asthma and days it is humid and all it is difficult to breathe, perhaps it would be less intense if everything was just cleaner.

Also on the topic of global warming, I try not to get political or offend anyone, but this topic could also be plain politics.  There is an election semi-soon...just a thought...

  7. Well, Al Gore tends to think we can, or at least that's what is going to kill the earth. Either way, there is no true chance at stopping it, but reducing it is another story

  8. I doubt it. Look on the roads, all I see are gas hogging SUVs and pickups. People drive fast and waste fuel. Who is going to give up the central air, dishwashers and all the energy consumption we have. It's not going to happen.
