How can we extract hydrogen from water?

Is there any country who is now commercially using hydrogen fuel?

I am very interested to know. It has been my dream to really replace present fuels with better one that is less harmful to environment.....

  2. By sending an electrical current down a split wire, one end will be positivly charged and the other will be negatively charged.  One end of the wire will pull the hydrogen atoms, the other end of the spilt wire will pull the oxygen atoms.  You can isolate these gases and then ignite them to create heat and propulsion.

  3. You can extract hydrogen from water and you can then burn the hydrogen. The burning produces heat and water vapour.

The problem is that there are no global reserves of hydrogen. The only ways to obtain hydrogen are by the electrolysis of water or by the liquefaction and fractional distillation of air. Either of these is fantastically costly and requires more energy than is obtained in the form of hydrogen.

Therefore, apart from a few demonstrations or special purpose vehicles, it is impossible to fuel cars with hydrogen.

If you want to develop a new and efficient fuel you might look at extracting energy efficiently from sugar.
