Can we receive phone service via dish?

can we eliminate present phone line and use sattelite for phone service?

Not in a satisfactory manner.  Two round trips to the satellite and back add a half second of delay to an attempted conversation, which will be most annoying.  Use a land line or cell phone instead -- if such are within reach.
