  1. I would ,nt use a stop leak in the power steering pump.If it leaking , it's most likely one of the hoses. There not hard to replace at all .You need to go to the auto parts store, tell them the year , make and model  of car you have ,Then tell them that you need a power steering hose. The best way to do it is to take the old hose with you .By the way the easest way to find the bad hose is by wiping the oil offof the hoses then have someone to start the car and rock the wheels back and forwards while your under the car watching to see which hose is leaking.

  2. you cant add that leak stuff in a can and it work properly, first you need to find the leak it could just be a hose leaking on it,its possible that you can repair it,if its a rack and pinion unit though it will have to be replaced anything else you should be able to repair it ,you don't always have to go to a shop for repairs,a hose or a lump you should be able to do,for the rack unit though if that's it you will have to have it repaired, find the leak first it sounds like a hose has busted or a seal in the pump may have went out, good luck

  3. The first thing to do is find the leak, if it is leaking a large amount, that will not be hard to do. It may help if you put some newspaper under the vehicle to determine where in the engine compartment to look. the rack and pinion steering gear is located against the firewall so leaks toward the center are normally associated with it, or connections from the pump, a leak near the front would be a pump or line, either the return (low pressure) or supply (high pressure). Both can yield a very large leak from a relatively small hole or tear.

I do not like the stop leak products for transmissions, or steering systems, they tend to cause the seals to swell, and can lead to other issues and premature failure in some cases
