  1. No, but you can smell some!

  2. No !!!

  3. no gases are invisible

  4. No, we can't.     =)

  5. most gases (not all) with naked eyes, no.  but you can smell some, especially from the man in front of u after a chilli bean lunch..... lol

  6. sometimes. if they are in te gaseous form, like the oxygen we breath, then no, we cannot. if they are cooled to a point where the molecules slow down, and turn into a liquid, then we can see them.

there are some exeptions. when a gas sublimates, meaning goes directly from solid to gas, then we can see the gas for a second or two. dry ice is a great example. when the frozen Co2 sublimates, we see what appears to be "cold smoke" coming out. this is actually a very slow moving gas. its slow, cold Co2 just a few degrees away from becoming dry ice again.

there are certain ways of quickly liquifying gas. appliying high amounts of pressure can cause a gas to liquify. pressure decreases the amount of space for molecules to fly around in, thus they slow down. when they slow down, so does the temperature. after all, the temperature is a measurment of how fast particles in a substance are moving. with the proper apperatuses, you could do this to some extent in your basement! i wouldn't recomend it unless you know what your doing. apply too much pressure, and the apperatus could end up exploding. so make sure you know what your doing. its not as easy as it sounds. you need to constantly moniter the pressure to make sure that things don't go wrong!

i might have gotten a bit off track there. so no, we cannot see gases in their gaseous form often. infact its very hard, and very rare that we do see them. if you want a simple example, pick up some dry ice at your local market.

  7. no... not sure what ones you can't

  8. Some gases, most gases have their molecules to far apart therefore we cannot see it

  9. Think about it - when you look in front of you, do you see any gases? No. But they are there, otherwise you wouldn't be able to breathe etc.

The answer is no, we can't. But, some gases are coloured. Most of which are poisonous.

  10. I can't see many at all.

  11. Nearly all elemental gases are colorless. However, there are a few, such as Bromine that have color (dark brown).

As for other gases (compounds, not elements) there are some we can see, such a photochemicals like nitrous oxide.

  12. I don't know how technical you want to get but I work with propane and you can't see it so you have to take a variety of precautions.

  13. No.. you cant see oxygen.

  14. No, Methane for example is colourless and orderless, petroleum is colourless as you can see when you fill your gas tank and the suns rays show the gas curling up out of the filler vent. Have a great day.

  15. you can't see the air in front of your face...  Air is a gass

  16. Most gases are invisible to the human eye... i don't know of any you can see... there are some of course...but i don't know of ANY.
