Question:

Can we still adopt??

My husband and I are very interested in adoption. The only problem we have is that my husband has a felony of theft on his record. This was a one time thing that happened while working. He is not a bad man nor had he ever did something like this before. He paid for his mistake and has done everything to fix it. We are a very lose family and a VERY good family. We have 2 children of our own and would like more. Does anyone know if we will be able to adopt still. I have heard that you can't have any felonies, but then I have heard only if they are felonies against children. Please let me know thanks!

  1. You have two children.  I am so confuesed by people like you.  You want more kids?  Make more.

I grew up in a house with adoptive parents and biological children of my parents.  It's exhausting.

How do you feel when you're with someone else's family, and you're the only non-related person there?  Like you don't quite belong, right?

Imagine 18 years of that.  It's awful.

  2. It really depends on what state is issuing your Home Study.  Some states have "automatic" deniels.  This may be one of them.  If it was the Department of Children that denied you a license then you need to talk to the Caseworker that made the decision.  Unfortunately there would be nothing you could do if it was an automatic deniel.......

  3. regradless of what someone else said, I think it's great. If you can't have your own, god wants you to help other children that don't have a home. I would defently talk to someone like a lawer or adoption agency. That would help you more than I can because I have no clue about adoption. Good luck and wish you the best!

  4. to get positive and asure answers speak to a lawyer or someone that really knows

  5. Do not adopt. The only thing worse than being raised by strangers is being raised by strangers and living with their children too.

You have two kids, isn't that enough? If you are dreading the "empty nest" or some such, do volunteer work. There are plenty of things you can do to help children, and adoption isn't one of those things.

  6. I don't know about the requirements for other places, but I do know that it will disqualify you from adopting from China.

  7. In most states, the theft shouldn't disqualify you.  Talk to the home study people.

  8. It depends on the state your in for the home study.  How may years ago was he charged?  I know in some states after 5 to 7 years you can petition the governor to have the charges removed from you record if you've stayed out of trouble.  It might be a thought.

Find out the details for your state....

  9. If it was several years ago this helps and can be overlooked. Be open and honest about everything!
