I have always wanted one and my friend told me that they no longer make them or the photo paper you put into them. Is the only way to get one on ebay?

  1. I think you can probably find a good used one on Ebay, but I'm fairly certain that Polaroid went out of business.

  2. Why do you want to waste your money on something that is going to be obsolete?   They are not going to make the film anymore, so what will you do with the camera when the film is all gone?   Totally worthless.   And the pictures cost $2.00 each.  Way too expensive to be practical.  Plus the pictures fade and change color over time.

Maybe if people had expressed as much interest in them before as they do now, they wouldn't be going out of business.

  3. Try eBay or if you want one sooner, try craigslist or even a garage sale.  $5 or so should get you one.

You need to know this however.

  4. Let me toss my hat into the ring:

Finding a Polaroid camera could be difficult nowadays, especially in normal retail situations.  Even the film can be somewhat difficult to find.  While Polaroid is phasing out its film production, FujiFilm has made good on thier promise made via press release to continue supporting film of many different sorts.  They have a replacement for Type 669 film that works absolutely amazingly well, and even has some similarities (can be used for emulsion lifts and image transfers).  FujiFilm has not advised of any plans to replace the integral films (type 600, Spectra).

For finding Polaroid Cameras, I've found I have really good luck going to thrift stores.  I have bought a number of them (Polaroid LandCamera 210, 215, 230, and 440) from Thrift Stores for between $3 and $10.  When it comes to buying film for those types (Type 669), I find I greatly like Freestyle Photo.

Here's the replacement for Type 669 from FujiFilm:

The type of cameras I use also require batteries - this is the one I find works well:

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask me.

  5. Well, Polaroid still makes the instant film, I don't think they still make cameras tho. They(like everybody else) only make digital cameras. You can probably find some Polaroid cameras in good condition on ebay tho.
