  1. (This answer assumes that you are located in North America)

Probably. Digital and analog TV broadcasts use the same TV antennas. If you get good analog reception now, you should be able to use your old antenna.

Digital TV signals can be fussy about signal quality, so some people will need better antennas.

Despite marketing hype to the contrary, there are no special "digital antennas" or "HDTV antennas".

  2. For now yes, BUT when all broadcast stations switch to digital in 2009, NO. Exception being your current TV must be digital also, if so then regular antenna will still work. If TV analog, then not work.

  3. Yes,

I use an antennae on my roof. I get all of the local HD channels on my HD tv. As stated however, digital is not like analog. It can be finicky. You either get the channel or you don't. There is no in between. You will not get ghosting and fuzzy pictures. If the signal is too low you won't get any image or the image will drop out and get jumbled up like what you might see on a skipping DVD.

  4. no

  5. yes but you need a hd reciever
