My dear Nanna recently passed. She was born in England. She passed here in Australia. She was cremated. We want to know is it allowed to take a some of her ashes back to England?

Would appreciate any advice based on experience or knowledge. Thanks.

  1. The simplest option is to place it in a well sealed bag in your checked luggage. You do not present any risk to other travelers and should work on the simple principle "don't ask questions you don't need answered".

  2. You actually need a certificate from the funeral place about your Nanna's ashes.Ofcourse it is Ok to take it out,but please remember to get the certificate.

  3. I don't see why you couldn't.

You would just have to explain what you were doing.
