Can we take nexium and gaviscon together?

  1. You can take them on the day but preferably not at the same time of day. Nexium is enteric coated so it doesn't break down in the stomach acid but will be absorbed from the duodenum. If gaviscon is taken at the same time it will raise the pH of the stomach which may allow the nexium (esomeprazole) to dissolve in the stomach and therefore degrade before it reaches the duodenum for absorption. If you must take both, take the Nexium first thing then the Gaviscon after meals and at bedtime.
