  1. Yes, I was in Hong Kong a few years ago and all the taxi's and buses used propane

  2. yes, people do all the time.

  3. Yes, they've been around for years and years. We bought natural gas powered cars instead, because it's much cheaper and easier to fill up ($10). Propane doesn't give you as much bang for the buck, plus it's expensive, plus they won't even let you fill up by yourself, which is time consuming and bothersome. Go with natural gas cars. They're great!

  4. yes definitely.  Propane is better because you can drive 300 miles on a tank versus 100 miles with natural gas

  5. Yes.  It would definitely be possible, and probably a little bit better (from an economic standpoint) than the way that we power our cars now.  You would still eventually have to face the inevitability of propane running out, since it is still a non-renewable resource, but it would definitely last a whole lot longer than oil, and we have more of it here in America, so it would be cheaper, at least in the short term.

  6. Propane is a big fuel for fork lifts in warehouses. It burns clean leaving no poisonous carbon monoxide.. To use in cars, trucks or buses would require a major rebuild of the fuel systems with limited payout. Plus which there are not enough places for refills.. It is also more dangerous than gasoline as vapor leaks are explosive and difficult to contain.

  7. It is very easy to do, but extremely expensive. It would be easier to get a honda civic that runs on natural gas from the honda website. They're $25k and there's a $4000 tax credit.

  8. Yes you can, it's quite common actually. I had a 1975 Ford Pickup that was converted to run on propane, it never failed to pass smog tests. The only drawback to it on trips was locating refueling stations.

  9. Yes, though it's only cheaper if it isn't taxed as heavily.

You also need to be pretty d**n careful with it since a leak will result in it pooling around the vehicle just waiting for a spark to set it off (as opposed to hydrogen and methane (aka natural gas) which are lighter than air and so just disperse up in the event of a leak).  With proper design and maintenance it can be quite safe but it's not a technology that tolerates sloppiness.

  10. Yes as it burns very clean. Trucks that use propane last over 200,000 miles...

  11. Yes, it is actually a very popular and clean burning alternative fuel.

The first car to use propane was back in 1913.

  12. Propane is derived from the refining of Petroleum(oil).

Natural Gas is used more often, and is naturally occuring.

You can use both in cars with some modifications.

    I would use Natural Gas.
