  1. If it's very lightweight it probably won't effect you. If you pour water on the hat before it will help you keep cool and probably make you go faster. In my opinion no it doesn't make you work harder.

  2. a sombrero would

  3. If it's not a light, technical fabric like most hats made for running, yes it can slow you down due to impact on the body.

Your body needs to regulate heat during running, and a pretty good amount needs to dissipate via the head. If a hat interferes with heat escape, you'll overheat faster and your pace will slow. I don't know that I'd say someone would be "working harder" though.

I believe some true baseball caps these days tend to be polyester-based and designed for athletic activity, and though not as ideal as a running cap, I wouldn't expect those to cause overheating as readily as some others.

If you need to wear a hat while running for some reason, finding a "real" running cap would be the way to go, and it's far from necessary to spend an arm and a leg on one.

  4. doubt it

  5. The amount of resistance a hat provides is very small, unless the visor was lifted up and caught the air. In which case, the hat would probably just get blown off your head rather than cause resistance.

  6. no it will just bother you while you run and cause excess weight it is way better to no run with a hat

  7. If this hat is made of lead, yes. The air resistance might be sort of high because of its shape, but if you turn it around backwards, it will be okay.
