I just noticed that the area around my eyes was red, however no no other part of my face was.

Is it possible for eye glasses to magnify the suns rays and cause a sunburn?

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can soothe my eyes?

  1. Depending on what type of glasses you wear, I would think that they could possibly cause your skin to become sunburned for a few reasons. 1. The outside of your frames could reflect the light onto your face due to its shinyness. 2. The lens itself might have an effect on the brightness of the uva and uvb rays.

  2. Eyeglasses can't cause sunburns,  however the lenses used to correct farsightedness and presbyopia (convex lenses) can be used to start a fire using sunlight.  They are the same type of lens as a magnifying glass.  I used to set ants on fire with a magnifying glass when I was a child.  It was kinda silly looking back on it.

  3. no it's not a sunburn. usually eyeglasses causes sweating in the eye area, and the sweat can cause irritations, that's why it's red. you just have to use kleenex more often :)
