Can web cams take pictures and upload them into the computer?

I want to get a web cam. I have seen that they take pictures and you can upload them. I don't know how to take the picture... if they take them. I was also wondering if web cams change the pictures.... like the colors??!!?

Yes, web cams can take pictures, and you don't have to upload them on computer, it will automatically be saved on a specific folder. When you open the webcam,  you will see a "capture" option on the top of the window, you can click on it and start capturing pictures and videos. Web cam can also change colors and give you many effects on pictures but it depends upon what kind of webcam you buy.
