Can weed help your athletic performance?

So last year a cupple guys on my cross country team would smoke weed at practice and are now top varsity guys. I stayed clean until this summer where i started smoking alot of high class weed (not mids or headies) I began noticing a boost in my running and i even beat out alot of guys on the team.How did i just become so much better since last year if i all i did was smoke weed? Was the weed the reason for this?

  1. well

    it does do a few things to the body

    It helps to increase lung volume due to its effect of helping to dilate the passages in the lungs (cigarettes do the opposite) which would increase breathing effectiveness.

    It does increases blood circulation (also thru dilation) which means more blood with more oxygen could be moved to the muscles during recovery and performance.

    Also the effect on the brain would reduce pain and nausea from training and make it easier to eat foods that are good for your running but taste like c**p.

    so yeah


  2. i do endurance wightlifting while im high.   like u kno wen ur running and u start to feel tired and then u hav to stop if u run to long.  well wen im high i just keep going and going.  sumtimes if u get the right high u dont feel any burn or pain but ur body is growing. just kno ur limits. and dont push them to far or ull feel sore tomro wich isnt a bad thing it just doesnt feel good.

    but no weed does not cause any physical performance increase.

  3. Depends on the person. My brother and I both love weed. He can workout like a monster but I seem to have zero strength when I do. On the other hand, any smoke in your lungs will deprive your muscles of oxygen.

  4. I have often thought the same thing, yet I haven't tried it. I don't think weed directly impacts your ability to perform, though if you're high you may not even realize when you're out of breath and you may strive to run the extra mile.

    I have a hard time eating healthy (veggies and fruits). I find them just disgusting. I'm thinking weed may make it easy to eat said foods. Just a theory I'll get around to trying one of these days...

    I jumped from 7 min mile to sub 5 without smoking.
