Can whaling be good? It can't always be bad.?

People in the world always think whales are special animals but they aren't really. They are just the same as any other animals but it's just some species of it is endangered, so why must whaling must be bad?

ALL killing of "wild" animals is bad, but whales are especially bad because there are so few of them.  There is absolutely no reason whatsoever in this day and age to kill whales.  No reason at all.  All the products that we needed many years ago from whales can be obtained today by other means that do NOT harm the native wildlife.  

Whales are highly intelligent animals, and very beneficial to the environment, and as such should be greatly appreciated and not harmed or molested.  

If man does not learn to love and respect the wildlife of this planet, this earth is doomed.  We NEED all the plants and animals to keep our earth healthy.  We MUST stop breeding like crazy until our overpopulation uses up and destroys all our natural resources, which include the animals.

Are you really asking why going out and killing animals that are endangered and threatened with extinction is bad? Good grief.

What are the benefits of whaling that justify reducing their numbers still further? It's not a question of keeping a few alive, we have to keep enough alive so that the population doesn't go through a genetic bottleneck and lose the diversity needed to survive long term.

Whaling is generally NOT bad but because the majority are endangered and because whales have slow reproduction, and the fact that whaling businesses have only one motive-profit-which leads to killing too many whales for profits.  It would be fine if we knew how to increase whale population while killing the whales that we need.  Whales have been used as food, in cosmetics and beauty supplies, and husks and ivory for art.  

Note: I do not support whaling but I am trying to show why whaling can be good and bad.

Well, to say that whales aren't special animals is to be foolish and uneducated.  Whales are long lived (some species can live over 100 years) and have short interbirth intervals.  They have been shown to have long memories, interspecies communication (okay, not so rare, but we didn't always believe this can exist) complex social structures and can recognize eachother after being separated by decades.  

Did you know that NASA's SETI program uses cetaceans as models for recognition of intelligence and communication for extraterestrial life?  

To say that whale hunting isn't bad is to say that murdering a family member isn't bad simply because somebody else needs a new pair of shoes.  We're not talking about food for living, we are talking about profit for luxuries.  And to say it's not an intelligent animal that suffers, even when it loses a family member is to not recognize what we term humanity.  

Right now I'd say whales are more intelligent than you, so we should hunt stupid people and make the world a better place.

r u stupid? do you think killing animals is good? what purpose does killing a whale serve? all it does is kill an innocent animal that has done nothing. why do they deserve to be killed when all we have done is to disturb their natural habitat. how do you think they've become endangered? people! we killed them until they were close to extinction. whaling is bad and thats that
