Can whole milk be frozen in the original plastic milk jug?

A local store has a gallon of milk for $1.38. Can it be frozen in the original plastic jug and is so, for how long?

  2. Yes, we do it all the time. We buy five at a time, freeze four and use one a week for the month. I'm sure it could be frozen up to 3 months, but haven't tried that.

    Be sure and check the expiration dates! We always get milk that has furthest date. If it's due to expire soon, it will go bad sooner after you thaw it. Great price though! We pay close to $4/gal.

Yes, you can and most people don't know this.  It will keep well for up to 2 months but you have to thaw it in the refrigerator and then just shake it up before using it.  A small side note, if I may, in the thawing process, it will look seperated in the jug, don't let that scare you, once it's fully thawed and shaken up, it will be fine.  If I had a freezer that was big enough to do this, I most certainly would!  Hope I've helped you with your delimma today!
