Can whole tomatoes be frozen and be good when unfrozen and?

still taste good. Is there anyway to do this without putting in jars or cooked?

  1. You can blanch them but you'll have to cut them up before freezing:

    Wash ripe, blemish-free tomatoes. Scald 2-3 minutes to loosen skins; peel and core. Cut into pieces and freeze or simmer 10-20 minutes until tender. Cool and dry pack with 1/2-inch headspace


  2. best to can them...don't freeze them.

  3. If frozen raw, they get a really gross chalky texture when they thaw out. You can freeze them cooked though.

  4. They will be fine for cooking.  Just peel the skin while still frozen.

  5. You will turn them into mush, which is fine for soups and stuff cause they turn into mush when you cook them anyways.

  7. Cut the tops off and freeze them. Assuming you will use them for sauces or soups, you will be fine. If you are thinking salads, then they will be mushy and runny.
