  1. We had a thunderstorm last week with gustandoes and the wind was definitely blowing from both the northwest and southeast at the same time, the trees were spinning.  I think there is a good video of this on youtube right now, we are in West Lafayette, Indiana.

  2. Yes;the wind from the downdraft of a thunder cloud hits the surface and spreads in all directions ,of course, for a short period only.

  3. Although winds can be divergent at some arbitrary level, such as the cycle in a hurricane in which winds could vary by nearly 180 degrees w/in 50-100 miles, there is no possible way to have an instantaneous division of winds from one direction to 180 degrees the other way.

You could theorectically bounce back and forth from a head/tailwind if you were say flying thru a thunderstorm/hurricane.

  4. Sure can - and the place where they meet is called a tornado.

    Or a cyclone.
