Can wisdom teeth cause pain in my jaw?

I have a wisdom tooth growing at my left-lower corner of my mouth.

Whenever i bite down gently or open my mouth really wide the left side of my jaw hurts! I can't even chew with the left side of my mouth anymore.

Can my wisdom tooth be causing this pain? It's still growing and erupting through my gums...i haven't seen a dentist in a while and i'm 14 if that helps.

  1. It will hurt for a while..until it grows in a little bit more...im 12 and I already have ALL my wisdom teeth in halfway..they dont hurt as much as they did when they first came in...I also have braces...if that helps....stay away from hard to chew food though....be gentle when brushing so u dont cause further pain...

  2. Yep, wisdom tooth is breaking through your gums! Try to avoid chewing where it's coming in. Get some ambesol or orajel, those will help. You could also put ice on your cheek if it gets too bad.

  3. Oh yes it can, because as it is growing, it is cutting through nerve endings..ouch!
