Can women such as alima's give lectures to an audience including both sexes females and males, as men do??? If not, why?

In lectures i've always seen Sheikhs, alims basically men mostly giving lectures and talks on islam not women.

  1. salam,

It is permissible. Prophet Muhammad's daughter Fatimah and granddaughter Zaynab both spoke about very important issues in front of a mixed audience, though their main focus was halaqas for women.

  2. At conference public lectures in medicine and medical science, Muslim women doctors are officially welcomed and its permissible for her to take part in the discussion!

Campus on university and colleges, its permissible for Muslim women to give public lectures on the concept of education.

Regards to matters of Deen lectures,  not considered permissible to have Muslim women's representative.

Futher details of this subject is similar to that of the imaamat of a Muslim women to lead in salaat which is definitely not permissible.

Quran: ALLAH(SWT) has made men guardians over women and has made them incapable of becoming rulers, ect...

  3. well , I don't actually know , but then I think women are allowed to speak at events and all , but I  don't think women are allowed to talk about  Islam and religious matters to a mixed audience

  4. They can to other women, but not to men/

  5. it is not encouraged cuz she will then have to stand before men and raise her voice to address them . and if shes young with a beautiful voice , theres goin gto be more "temptation' than "guidance" ( which goes against the purpose of the lecture!)

its always better to avoid the routes to fitnah than find a solution to it.

i remember listening to a pakistani sister's lecture .apparently she was in her mid 30s or 40s but her voice was so sweet ... i wonder how men would react to such a sweet voice..

the speaker , the listeners may have good intentions ....but you cant trust the 3rd party ..-the shaitan ..

@sadia : a little correction sister . a woman's voice is not awrah /that which has to be concealed from non-mahram men. if that was the case we couldnt even buy stuff from the market,..imagine talkin to the shop keeper in sign language ?.lol

but a "beautified voice" is awrah . i think u wer referring to this .

  6. yes of corse my mother do but in algeria at your place mabe not .

and it is'nt  because of islam it's becouse of people

  7. In Islam, a womens voice is precious and shouldn't be displayed to men. It's a way of modesty for a woman.

I'm sure you know Men do find a womens voice attractive lol.

Basically this is the reason why Muslim women are ADVISED not to speak in lectures ect in front of both sexes.

Some people however believe that as long as the women is fully covered, she should be allowed.

Women are definetly allowed to give lectures etc in front of other women.

  8. not in the muslim world..........never

  9. YERS women can

  10. I have seen women giving lectures but the main floor was the women's section and the 'watching' section was the men's, if that makes sense.  So the ground floor by the stage was women and the men were on a higher tier so the women were directing the talk to other women and not looking up to the men.

  11. There are women scholars in the world. And aren't like 70% of the "Hadith" transmitted through Hazrat Aisha, the Prophet's Wife, any ways?

Personally I don't really care who gives the lecture, I am not a sexist ego maniac.

"O mankind, We have created you from a male and a female and have made you into nations and tribes for you to know one another. Truly, the noblest of you with God is the most pious. Truly, God is All-Knowing, All-Aware." (49:13)

The noblest of us is the one that is most pious, nothing about gender here.

  12. Technically it's OK but it does make men feel uncomfortable.

  13. well , in islam as far as she/he is dressed up like islam says it's ok

but personally , i think it'd be more convencing to a large audience if he was a man . you see men has strong influence if you know what i mean , but a woman for example can not talk with a "power" tune . but myself i listen to lectures if i wanna know about the subject and the lecturer (man or woman) seem that they know what they're saying

  14. i think itz ok as long as the women are covered and not visible to the men

  15. It's okay for them to lecture the women, but most definitely not the Men. That would be ridiculous!

  16. definately why not

  17. It's ok, I've seen women giving lectures in mosque

  18. no a woman is to women only while a man can give lectures to both sexes but the ladies has to have a separate section where the lecturer is either seen thru electronic means as in tv or or atleast can be heard in the ladies section

  19. No, they can't.

    Why? Well, for obvious reasons.
