Question:

Can women send men to jail anytime they want?

Say a woman, one that REALLY knows how to act and lie, lies about her boyfriend raping her. Will her boyfriend get sent to jail for 5 years if she lies about it to the police? Would everyone just believe her because she's considered the physically weaker s*x, so they automatically view the man as the one who's evil? I know this doesn't happen often because people aren't THAT evil, but I'm saying IF.

  1. No, courts don't "automatically" view the man as the evil one. Actually, there have been enough claims of rape that have been shown to be untrue that many cases that are true claims don't get the man put away. Courts and juries tend to want more than the word of the person claiming rape.

Additionally, some people have the "she was asking for it" or the "boys will be boys" mentality.

  2. No. Rape is probably the only crime where the victim goes on trial. Statistically most men get away with it - when you compare the number of convictions to the number of police reports made - there is great disparity. Unfortunately there are still a lot of misguided people who think that women are "asking for it" if they dress a certain way, or drink alcohol. :-/

  3. She needs to be consistant as possible on the story...like everyone else, she's going to need to put it in court and say the story countless time and keep the exact same details and he's going to testify too, I really don't think this is a easy thing to do these days, nor would I want to, you can go to jail for that yourself.

  4. yah well in reality theres a thing called data and evidence...tests can obviously be done to test if she has been raped...

  5. It can happen, but it's rare.

The police are pretty good at interviewing victims.  There are signals that they look for that tell them if the story is being made up or not.
