  1. i read some answers and came to the conclusion that its where you go to basic training cause i went through oct 06 and there were females there who indeed shaved there heads and no one said a word...

  2. Women cannot shave their heads. That is considered a 'faddish' hairstyle and is not allowed under army regulations.

  3. there are no regulation against it

    army regulation ar670-1

  4. Oh lord NO.  that is unfeminine!  the woman's beauty is in her hair.  Without that her beauty is gone.  KAPUT.  No man would look at her.

  5. I've seen some females with extremely short (although not shaved) hair in the Army.

  6. Straight from the AR 670-1:

    (3) Female haircuts will conform to the following standards.

    (a) Females will ensure their hair is neatly groomed, that the length and bulk of the hair are not excessive, and that

the hair does not present a ragged, unkempt, or extreme appearance. Likewise, trendy styles that result in shaved

portions of the scalp (other than the neckline) or designs cut into the hair are prohibited.

Women can't shave because it is considered faddish (similar to guys who cut designs into their hair).  They are allowed to wear wigs as long is it falls under the uniform standards.

  7. I tried doing that in basic, but it is considered faddish. Believe it or not, women must look somewhat feminine in uniform.

so i told my NCO one day, so, I HAVE to look like a woman? Ok, so let me shave my head, and I'll get my nails done, and wear makeup...ha ha ha.

  8. That's not necessarily true i know in the marines you cant have hair that is considered eccentric so if it suits you than that's fine but if you shave it and you look like an idiot than you're gonna be in trouble.

  9. Technically a shaved head is considered eccentric or faddish, but most of the services also authorize the wearing of a wig, so if they really want shaved heads, they can do so as long as they wear a wig over it while in uniform.  The Marines have adopted a minimum hair length of 1/4 inch (which is pretty short).  I'm sure the other services will follow suit.  I think for the most part the women who want to do this are ones who are deploying for long periods of time and want to have less time involved with their grooming while away.

  10. actually no.  on women a shaved head is considered faddish and thus not permitted by regulation.  on the contrary, not only would your Chain of command have a problem, they would also write you up.

  11. can you say "ex-centric", this particular hairstyle will draw extra attention, which is why it wouldnt be allowed.
