  1. Yes.  Note Jackson Pollock.


  2. Certainly, some of the most famous 20th century artists created nonobjective works. Rothko, Pollack. In fact Abstract Expressionism is considered one of the primary art movements of the late 20th century.

    I do think that movement is over. How much paint splashed on canvas can you stand?
