Can years of repressed emotion cause insanity?

I think it all depends on how rapidly the repressed emotions comes into the person's consciousness.  If it all happens too fast, I think the person could have an emotional breakdown.

If the repressed emotions came on more slowly, I think symptoms of depression and anxiety would take hold of the person.

Not insanity. You could get depression or anxiety like I have, but insanity is really hard to get.

I believe so. In fact, I might be proof of it.

I think so.   If not insanity definitely anxiety and panic attacks.
